NoguerasBlanchard opened its first space in the Barcelona Raval in 2004. The programme evolves around conceptually motivated practices which offer an interdisciplinary view. In 2011 we launched Curatorial Open Call which is a yearly opportunity for the younger curators to bring forward their proposals. Other initiatives include their Kitchen Talks, where artists, critics, curators and other cultural agents are invited to conduct informal talks in the gallery.

In September 2012 NoguerasBlanchard opened a second venue in Madrid in order to attract new people, contexts and possibilities. In Catalonia, since October 2015, NoguerasBlanchard occupies a venue in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, located in an industrial building together with other galleries and artist studios.

Exhibition: artist(s)

Anne-Lise Coste is known for her radical approach, in which the creative potential of her art is articulated in the spontaneous gesture and what is directly said, written and painted. Drawing plays a main role in portraying a universe based on her idiosyncratic codes: her imagination and daily life being the raw material that inspires her works. 

Coste employs a wide range of media in her works –whether airbrush, spray paint, lacquer, acrylic or oil– drawing and script brimming with immediate and spontaneous gestures, that are often reminiscent not only of graffiti and urban space but also of Art Brut because of the composition of simple schematic shapes. Considered by the artist to represent the freedom of childhood –but also resistance– this combination of “naïve” lines and specifically referential words or symbols casts a view onto both the violence of our society and the beauty of the world.
