Dilalica are artists and curators who invite other artists to participate in original projects. The name Dilalica was generated by a computer program that randomly combined syllables frequently used in Spanish - a language that is written phonetically. «Hacerse rala» brings together a series of works by Mikel Escobales, conceived in relation to space as a site of constant transformation. The installation incorporates a range of materials that act as catalysts for encounters between language and reality, creating a singular, unstable framework in which ideas, emotions, and phenomena emerge through new connections. The artist puts these elements to the test through a process in which the material and the immaterial come into contact, placing objects in states of instability or discomfort. This tension gives rise to contingencies that shape the work, allowing the unexpected to become a driving force behind decisions and forms. Depending on the material, gesture appears as a link between the imagined and the possible, or as part of dialogues yet to be explored, revealing fragments of an emerging framework.
Mikel Escobales (Arrasate/Mondragón, 1991). He completed his studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid in 2013 and obtained a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art History and Visual Culture at MNCARS in 2016. He has held solo exhibitions at Raccoon Projects, Barcelona (2025), and Fundación Blueproject, Barcelona (2019), among other venues, and will present a solo exhibition at the San Telmo Museum, Donostia/San Sebastián, in November 2026. He has also participated in group exhibitions at Saceca, Sagunto, and Fabra i Coats: Centre d’Art Contemporani, Barcelona (2024); Okela, Bilbao, and Salón, Madrid (2022); Tabakalera, Donostia/San Sebastián (2021); and Artium, Basque Museum-Centre of Contemporary Art, Vitoria/Gasteiz (2020), among other exhibition contexts.
In 2024, he received the Miquel Casablancas Prize in the artwork category. He has undertaken residencies at the Guggenheim in New York (2022), as part of the Basque Artist Program; Gasworks, London (2021); and Tabakalera, Donostia/San Sebastián (2020).
