Rasmus Nilausen

Rasmus Nilausen (Copenhagen, 1980) is a Danish painter resident in Barcelona.

His work is based on personal research into the history of painting, focusing on the genre of still-life. Starting with the premise that objects that tell contemporary stories based on stories from the past, he adds classical motifs to give them new meanings, specific interpretations and the accident of the creation process, often with a humorous approach.

He has had individual exhibitions at La Capella (Barcelona), García Galería (Madrid) and Fundació Suñol (Barcelona), and taken part in group shows at Chisenhale Gallery (London), the Institute of Contemporary Art (London) and Fundació Antoni Tàpies (Barcelona), among many others.
